Jose Mourinho is expected to be active in the summer market, after a disappointing season so far for the north London side.

And according to Belgian media, Anderlecht winger Paul Mukairu is very much on Spurs’ radar.

Outlet Voetbal24 (as cited by Sport Witness) claims that Mourinho is keen on landing the 21-year-old.

Mukairu has only been with the Belgian outfit since the summer, having arrived on loan from Turkish side Antalyaspor.

The likes of Roma and Bayer Leverkusen have already shown an interest in the player, but Spurs are considered frontrunners.

The report adds that Tottenham are willing to pay ‘over €5m’ for the youngster. Indeed, Voetbal24 adds that ‘the London top club strongly believes in Mukairu’s potential and would like to attract the winger’.

Mukairu has scored four goals and notched four assists in 20 appearances for Anderlecht. The Belgian side have an option to buy for €2.5m.

Local media claims a deal will happen, with Anderlecht then looking to make a swift profit on the forward.

If Mukairu did arrive in London, he would face competition from a squad packed full of wide players.

Bale has ‘nothing to prove’ Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho says Gareth Bale has nothing to prove, insisting his “special qualities” can help the club between now and the end of the season.

The Wales international is just beginning to come to life after a dismal start to his second Spurs spell. He has been dogged by injury concerns that stopped Mourinho offering him many minutes.

There appeared to be friction between the two a fortnight ago when Bale posted a picture on Instagram that suggested he had trained well before telling Mourinho he did not feel fit enough to play against Everton in the FA Cup.

But Bale showed signs he was returning to somewhere near his best with an impressive 45-minute display at West Ham. He notched an assist, ran past defenders and hit the crossbar with a fierce effort.

And Mourinho is “totally convinced” about Bale’s quality and hopes he can start delivering more as the season hits the business end. Read more…
