The Italian outfit seem to be enjoying life under Jose Mourinho. They have won five league games from seven matches since he took over in the summer. They are also one of the highest scoring teams in Serie A, having registered an impressive 16 goals in that time.

Roma look set to rival Tottenham for the inaugural Europa Conference League crown. They have beaten CSKA Sofia and Zorya Luhansk in a dominant start to the competition.

Multiple players are thriving under Mourinho’s guidance. Lorenzo Pellegrini has received plenty of praise from the manager, while former Arsenal man Henrikh Mkhitaryan has started brightly.

Tammy Abraham has been arguably their best player so far this campaign. The England international left Chelsea for Rome in a £34million deal earlier this year.

He is looking to prove his previous employers wrong and has already notched four goals in ten matches. His form earned him an England recall, although he was forced off with an injury against Hungary on Tuesday.

Chelsea can re-sign Abraham for £68m if they are in need of a striker in the future. That clause comes into effect during the summer of 2023.

Former defender Johnson thinks the Blues may just do that if Abraham continues to fire in goals.

“He’s scoring, enjoying his football again and he’s got a lot to offer,” Johnson said (via Metro). “And naturally all the big teams are going to want strikers who are scoring goals.

“Chelsea have shown in the past that they’re not embarrassed to sign somebody back for a lot more money than they sold them for.

“If he continues to score goals then I think, yeah, they would be interested. Strikers are hard to come by, aren’t they?

“As a young Englishman, we’re all brought up to want to play in the Premier League, so I’m sure he’ll want to come back one day to settle some scores.”

Abraham’s departure coincided with the return of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian re-joined Chelsea for a club-record £97.5m in August, seven years after he left Stamford Bridge.

Johnson believes Abraham still has time to reach his peak for club and country.

“I can also see him being part of the England set-up at Qatar 2022,” he added. “He’s got age on his side.

“He’s a big physical lad, and for me he’s decent in front of goal as well. If he continues to score goals then he’s going to be hard to look past isn’t he?”

Chelsea duo to return for Brentford clash Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will have N’Golo Kante and Reece James at his disposal this weekend.

The Blues travel to Brentford on Saturday in their first match back after the international break.

Kante has been missing following a positive Covid-19 test, while James has been out with an ankle problem.

A club statement revealed that the pair returned to full training on Tuesday. However, Christian Pulisic is less fortunate. The American remains out of action with an ankle injury.

Lukaku could be named as a substitute after he suffered from muscle soreness while on international duty.
