The Uruguay international, speaking at an interview for a Puma football boot launch, revealed that he had been impressed with the Blues and England forward so far this season.

He said: “There are many excellent young strikers at the moment.

“There are many players that I take an interest in, and watch when I have the chance to.

“The No.9 at Chelsea, Abraham is one that I like. He is a very good forward, with strong finishing skills, and good movement for his age.”

Suarez was also asked about potential replacements for him when he finally decides to either move on or hang up his boots, and hinted that Abraham could potentially be a long-term target for the Catalan club.

The former Liverpool attacker also admitted that international team-mate Moi Gomez and Inter Milan hotshot Lautaro Martinez would also be good options for the Catalan giants.

The interview follows an earlier admission from Suarez that the pressure at Barcelona is huge with the attacker acknowledging that time is ticking on his career in Spain.

The 32-year-old forward left Anfield for the Camp Nou in July 2014 for around £75m on the back of a 31-goal league season for Brendan Rodgers’ Reds.

Suarez told Ovacion: “The demands at Barcelona are immense. Every three days you have to have a test, there is no rest, and you are not forgiven if you have even just one bad game.

“It is not easy to play at a club like Barcelona, to adapt and win your place. I have to respect that I have spent five years at the club dealing with this pressure and always trying to respond in the right manner.

“If the club are looking for, or wish to bring in another number nine, it would not be strange, it is the reality of football.

“A time will arrive when my age will not allow me to play at the level Barcelona require, but while I can, and while I have the strength to compete, I will.”

Suarez is contracted to Barca until 2021 but with the club turning their thoughts to a long-term successor, they know the player could still command a sizeable transfer fee if they let him leave at the end of the season.
