The report in The Independent also claims that the Toffees are trying to secure deals for Barcelona pair Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina.

The Premier League club has had a significant shake-up since the end of the season, hiring sporting director Marcel Brands and bringing in new boss Marco Silva, while Wayne Rooney was a big-name casualty on the playing staff.

The club’s owner Farhad Moshiri is now said to be planning a major transfer splurge, although he will have to put his foot down as the window closes for Premier League clubs on August 9.

Watford forward Richarlison appears to be a major name on the club’s radar, with the 21-year-old the subject of a a huge bid from the Merseyside outfit.

The Brazilian started last season in blistering form under then Hornets boss Silva before fading in the second half of the campaign.

Silva is now said to be keen on linking up with the player again, while the report states that Watford are ready to accept their bid – which would represent a near £35m profit.

The Toffees are also keen on Bordeaux winger Malcom, but face strong competition from Tottenham and clubs in Italy for the highly-rated attacker, while an out-of-favour Arsenal star could also be Goodison bound.

Everton are, however, in talks to land Barca left-back Digne and are likely to have to pay £25m to get their man.

His Nou Camp teammate Mina may be more difficult to land though, with the Colombian World Cup star keen on staying in Catalonia and fighting for his place.
