Barcelona have finally put to bed rumours concerning Philippe Coutinho and former star Neymar.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that Coutinho, who has struggled for form, is not for sale and denied Neymar’s potential return to the Nou Camp is on the cards.
Coutinho himself claimed recently that “nobody knows what will happen in the future”, while Sport claimed that Coutinho will speak to Ernesto Valverde about his long-term prospects amid recent links to Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Marca meanwhile stated Coutinho, who has made 13 LaLiga starts this term, will be kept in the starting line-up in a bid to build his confidence, although when Dembele returns from injury his place will be in jeopardy.
Brazilian forward Coutinho has struggled to make himself a regular at Barca since moving from Liverpool for £142million last January, but Barca will not sell him.
“Are we going to consider the sale of Coutinho? No. It’s a club bet,” Bartomeu told El Partidazo de COPE .
“He plays differently, he knows how we play, we do not want to sell Coutinho.”
While Bartomeu also put paid to sensational talk of a Barca return for Neymar, who ditched the club for PSG in the summer of 2017 in a £199million move.
“I have never spoken to them, nor have the father or player called me to return to Barca. They have not called,” added Bartomeu.
“We are preparing for next season and the name of Neymar is not on the table.
“We are talking about a PSG player and I do not think that PSG want to get rid of a player like him.”
