The Gunners fans again voiced their displeasure with Unai Emery’s team on the final whistle, with the Spaniard’s position at the club now under even more pressure.

Arsenal had the first clear chance of the game but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joe Willock both went for the same header from Bukayo Saka’s cross and the ball drifted wide.

Gabriel Martinelli had a volley daved moments later after he was set up in bizarre fashion by a terrible attempted clearance by Danny da Costa.

Despite a decent start Arsenal lost their rhythm following an injury to David Luiz, who had started brightly in midfield for the Gunners.

But the hosts did break the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, as bright spark Saka crossed for Aubameyang who swivelled and fired home.

Arsenal missed two great chances to double their lead just after half time, but Willock hit his opportunity straight at the goalkeeper before Callum Chambers blazed over after some wonderful trickery from newly reinstated midfielder Granit Xhaka on the right wing.

But Frankfurt drew level in the 55th minute, as midfielder Daichi Kamada curled his shot brilliantly into the far corner under no pressure from the Arsenal defence.

Frankfurt were now making all the running, as the Arsenal fans started to voice their discontent.

And Kamada put Frankfurt into the lead soon after his first  goal as he fired into the same corner, again under no pressure from Arsenal as he collected the ball on the edge of the box.

Despite having plenty of time to mount a response, Arsenal offered little and were condemned to their seventh straight game without a win.
